School's Back - Year 3 Science Week
Date: 12th Mar 2021 @ 4:44pm
Our return to school this week has seen us studying the length and position of our shadows, as well as drawing our own shadows in Art to link in with our ongoing Science topic on 'Light.'
As it is Science week however, we have also taken part in a 'Live Online Science Lesson' on forces, courtesy of Big Science UK. In addition, we have decided to take the opportunity to develop our Geography work on volcanoes by making our own lava lamps to see different densities in action, thus consolidating our understanding of the particle model.
Finally, we have studied a real-life scientist from the past, and somebody once again who has made a significant impact on the way we live today. Our focus was on Thomas Edison, the 19th century American Scientist and his pioneering inventions; most notably the incandescent light bulb.
We have absolutely been 'switched on' to Science this week and have exploded the myth that the sun actually rises in the East and sets in the West, discovering instead that it is actually us that is moving. We have definitely felt the force of Science all around us and have left shadows of our former selves well and truly behind.
Forces and Magnets are up next for us now and following our ‘Live Lesson,’ it is safe to say we can’t wait!!
